A forward-looking session designed to practice prediction and speculation. Students will evaluate the risks and rewards of space travel, discuss the role of private companies (like SpaceX), and decide if they would be willing to leave Earth forever to start a new civilization.

Session Activities

1: If you were offered a one-way ticket to a luxury colony on Mars, but you could never come back to Earth, would you take it? Why or why not?

2: You are allowed to take only one personal object with you to a new planet. It cannot be an electronic device. What do you bring?

3: You are the first human to step onto Mars. The whole world is listening. What are your first words?

1: Should we spend billions of dollars on space colonization while we still have poverty and environmental problems on Earth?

2: What would be the hardest part of living in a closed colony? (Lack of nature, limited food variety, being away from family?)

3: If we start a colony on Mars, should it follow Earth’s laws, or should it be a completely independent country with its own rules?

4: Do you think space exploration should be led by governments (like NASA) or by billionaire entrepreneurs (like Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos)?

5: Do you believe that humans must colonize other planets to survive in the long term, or is it an unnecessary risk?
