Description

We all have days where everything goes wrong. In this lesson, students will learn how to complain professionally and personally. They will move from "I am sad" (Present) to "I lost my keys and I was late" (Past). The goal is to connect a sequence of events using simple past-tense verbs.

Session Activities

1: What is worse: waking up 1 hour late or realizing there is no coffee in the house? Why?

2: On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 is perfect), how was your day yesterday? Tell me one thing that happened.

3: When was the last time you lost your keys or forgot a password?

1: You woke up at 8:30 AM, but your work started at 8:00 AM. What did you do? Did you call your boss? What did you say?

2: You were at the supermarket. You looked in your pocket, but your wallet wasn't there. Who did you ask for help?

3: You walked to the park, but it started to rain. You didn't have an umbrella. Where did you go to stay dry?

4: You took the bus to the city, but it was the wrong number. You ended up in a different town. How did you feel?

5: You were in an important Zoom meeting and the Wi-Fi died. Your screen froze. What happened next?

Spilled

To accidentally let liquid fall from a container. ("I spilled my coffee on my shirt.")

Dropped

To let something fall to the ground by accident. ("I dropped my phone and the screen broke.")

Forgot

To not remember something you needed to do or bring. ("I forgot my keys inside the house.")

Lost

To be unable to find something you own. ("I lost my wallet at the supermarket.")

Overslept

To sleep longer than you planned or intended. ("I overslept and missed my 8:00 AM meeting.")

Broke

To separate into pieces or stop working (for machines). ("My car broke down on the highway yesterday.")
