Remote work vs Office work

Remote work vs Office work

Business - B2-C1 | Advance Level

Description

In recent years, the way people work has changed dramatically. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the shift toward remote work, and many employees discovered the benefits of working from home. At the same time, some companies argue that office spaces are still essential for collaboration, team culture, and productivity. This session will explore both perspectives and invite participants to reflect on their own experiences and preferences. On one hand, remote work offers flexibility, reduced commuting time, and greater comfort. Many employees report feeling more productive when they can design their own work environment and schedule. Remote work can also support better work–life balance, allowing people to spend more time with family or pursue personal interests. However, it can sometimes lead to feelings of isolation, blurred boundaries between work and personal life, and challenges in building strong workplace relationships. On the other hand, office work provides face-to-face interactions, spontaneous collaboration, and a clear separation between home and professional life. For some, being in the office creates structure and motivation. Yet, commuting can be stressful, and office environments may also come with distractions or rigid routines that limit flexibility.During this session, participants will be encouraged to discuss:Which environment helps them feel more productive and why.How working conditions affect mental health and well-being.Whether a hybrid model (a mix of remote and office work) could be the ideal solution. The goal is not to decide which option is universally better, but to understand the trade-offs, share perspectives, and consider how future workplaces might combine the best of both worlds.
